Things to do
Located at the periphery of Ubud village, there are lots of wonderful places to visit within reach from Villa Shinta Dewi Ubud. The followings are just a few of them for your consideration:
1. Ubud Art Market
Ubud Art Market and Ubud Royal Palace is about 2 km from the villa. It is where travelers gather for some unique Balinese souvenirs. This is also where you can observe Ubud’s traditional local life. If you are interested in buying some crafts in this market, however, bartering is important. Do try out your bargaining skill lest you’ll get the item with much higher price as it should be.
2. Ubud Royal Palace
As the heart of Balinese art and culture, you can’t leave Ubud without admiring the gorgeous dance performance. While you are here, make your way to enjoy dancers in colorful costumes ‘show’ you about Balinese Hindu stories. Ubud Palace holds cultural performances every night, while Pura Dalem usually hosts cultural shows and fire dance performances twice a week.
3. Sacred Monkey Forest Ubud
Other than Ubud Market and Ubud Palace, the must-visit iconic tourist attraction in Ubud is the Sacred Monkey Forest, only about 11 minutes drive from Villa Shinta Dewi Ubud. Here, visitors can see and interact with troops of Balinese grey macaques. The tranquil and shady area of this lush forest is perfect for a late afternoon visit. But, pay attention to your belongings since the monkeys can be a little mischievous and brave to ‘steal’ something from your pocket.
4. Campuhan Ridge Walk
About 4 km away from Villa Shinta Dewi, there is Campuhan Ridge Walk, a great place to an easy hike. The best time to enjoy strolling the trek is in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun doesn’t shine too brightly. Campuhan Ridge Walk is a long path with charming greenery at both sides. Just right after beginning the journey, you will walk passing the complex of Pura Gunung Lebah Temple. After the long walk, you can chill out and relax at a nearby cafe.
5. Visit Art Museums
If you are keen on artistic works, there are some art galleries nearby. Blanko Museum is about 3 km away while Neka Art Museum is about 5 km away from Villa Shinta Dewi Ubud. If admiring artworks exhibited in museums isn’t enough, there are a number of art galleries, studios, and art shop where you can shop for some paintings, photographs, wall panels, and other kinds of artistic works.
